Pocket First Aid Kit
Have first aid equipment on your person, or nearby, at a moment's notice. Accidents and emergencies don’t wait until we are prepared. They just happen.
If you read my First Aid Morale Patch article, you’ll remember how important it is to have first aid equipment on your person, or nearby, at a moment's notice. Accidents and emergencies don’t wait until we are prepared. They just happen. And, instead of scrambling in the heat of the moment, we need to be prepared to jump into action as soon as something happens.
What better way to do this than to have a Pocket First Aid Kit with you at all times?

What do I recommend for a pocketable “Altoids First Aid Tin”?
For starters, we have a huge selection of pocket-sized first aid gear here: https://grimworkshop.com/collections/pocket-first-aid-kit. But, let me simplify it even further for you by selecting a brief assortment of gear that I think would be perfect for any person of any skill level:
- Credit card size tin: http://grimworkshop.com/products/black-credit-card-sized-tin
This is the base of your kit and it will house all of your first aid kit gear. In addition to being compact and crush proof, it is easily identifiable. This is easy to carry, which means you will have it when you need it most. - Band-aids: https://grimworkshop.com/products/first-aid-band-aids
Bandages are the most common thing that anyone reaches for in a first aid kit. So, make sure you have an assortment of different sized band-aids and keep plenty of them on hand. - Triple antibiotic ointment: https://grimworkshop.com/products/triple-anti-biotic-ointment
I recreate and work in very unsanitary environments, so, it is essential that I have a way of cutting down on the bacteria that can enter an open wound. These affordable and compact packets of triple antibiotic ointments are perfect for preventing infection in something as simple as a scrape in the woods. - Tweezers: https://grimworkshop.com/products/tweezer-micro-tool-pointed-tip
I’ll never forget the time that one of my kids got a massive splinter in their foot. We didn’t have a pair of tweezers with us at the time and the splinter ended up lodging itself further into their foot, causing some very painful issues. If only I had a pair of tweezers, I could’ve gotten it out. With that said: Carry some tweezers! - Over the counter medicine:
We stock a wide variety of “single-serve” medications on our website. So, I highly recommend you check them out. If you’re prone to headaches, grab some Ibuprofen. Eat too much taco bell, stock up on Antacid. Find yourself dealing with dehydration like the majority of our population, put some Medi-Lyte rehydration tablets in your kit.
There are a lot of other great things that you could add to your first aid kit. But, this is a great base for any person with any skill level.

You’ve built your first aid kit, now what?
Use it and keep it well-stocked. If you have used a few of your band-aids, restock them immediately. If you haven’t used your triple antibiotic in a few months or a year, make sure it hasn’t leaked. Inspect your kit frequently to ensure that you have everything you originally put in it, evaluate new needs that you might have, and take note of any damaged/out-of-date items that might need replaced.
