Dr. Mark "Merriwether" Vorderbruggen's expertise spans far beyond wild edible and medicinal plants. He holds a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from one of the oldest technical universities in the US. He is a scientist, who not only appreciates nature, but also has the knowledge to identify, understand and safely consume wild plants.
Mark, commonly referred to as “Merriwether," had a distinct advantage in foraging for wild foods and medicinal plants during his childhood due to his upbringing in an environment surrounded by natural resources. This gave him a comprehensive familiarity with edible plants that many adults never have the opportunity to learn.
At Grim Workshop we pride ourselves in working with some of the most talented and skilled individuals in their fields to create some of the most unique survival cards ever created. The Mark Merriweather signature card is no exception. Mark's journey started with a passion for nature, which led him to specialize in medicinal chemistry. He studied the remarkable capabilities provided by plants, animals, and mushrooms, eventually earning his PhD in physical organic chemistry. His research culminated in the development of sixteen patents, such as a cinnamon-based corrosion inhibitor for steel.
A passion for foraging and bushcraft earned Mark the nickname he's best known by, "Merriwether," in reference to Merriwether Lewis of the renowned Lewis and Clark Expedition. Subsequently, he established the widely recognized Foraging Texas website, featuring an extensive compilation of wild edible and medicinal plants. By 2014, he had earned national recognition as an authority on wild edible and medicinal plants.

Credit Card Size Foraging Tools Contents:
Tweezers – small Tweezers integrated into the card, perfect to use to remove thorns, and other sharp objects from plants (or yourself)
Scraper - Scrape the outside off of plants to either save, or to expose the inner portions, depending on what you need.
Blade - Small cutting tool to help cut sections of plants.
Tick Remover - Ticks happen in the bush
Mushroom Knife - A V shaped blade with small serrations to help cut fungi.
Ruler - Sometimes it helps to identify specific plants based on their approximate size regarding certain features.
Leaf Stripper - insert a stem into one of the leaf stripper holes, and pull it through. The card removes all the leaves (also works for berries) from the plant for you.
Saw - Some plants are more robust than others and require a bit more force to harvest.
Berry Harvester - Run this comb shaped tool through berries to help separate them from the plants they come off of easily.
