Firefly Saw Card: Survival Saw with Ferro Rod Fire Starter
A Saw Card That Cuts Wood and Carries Its Own Fire Starter
The Firefly Saw Card combines a compact survival saw and a removable ferro rod in a credit card footprint built for wallets, Altoids size tins, pocket organizers, packs, and small preparedness kits.
The saw body is cut from 0.060 inch 1095 high carbon blued spring steel. Its teeth are built for small wood, kindling, cordage, plastic, and other light to medium cutting jobs. The same high carbon steel body also works as the striker for the ferro rod.
A glow green silicone band helps hold the ferro rod against the card, adds grip, and makes the tool easier to spot in low light.
A full camp saw will always move more wood. The Firefly earns its place by being the saw and fire starter you can keep close when the big tools stayed home.

Why Carry a Saw Card This Small?
A full size saw belongs in a pack. The Firefly Saw Card exists for the times when carrying one is overkill but having no saw at all is worse.
Small cutting jobs show up everywhere outdoors. You may need to break down kindling, shape a small stake, trim cordage, or make a quick field repair. A credit card size saw gives you enough cutting capability for those jobs without adding another bulky tool.
Fire often comes right after wood prep, so the card also carries a removable ferro rod. One flat tool gives you two related jobs in the same place: prepare small material, then make sparks when you are ready to light tinder.
That is the Firefly idea in a sentence: keep the useful part, lose the bulk.

Firefly Saw Card Tool List, Skill Guides, and Training
Every tool on this card is backed by a full skill guide.
That means you are not left guessing how to use the saw, how to cut effectively, or how to get the most out of it in the field. You can learn exactly how each piece works, when to use it, and how to apply it in real situations.
Each tool listed below links directly to its own step-by-step guide. These guides take you from beginner to confident use, so you are not just carrying tools, you are building real cutting and survival skills.
Whether you are processing wood, making quick field cuts, or improvising with what you have, the knowledge is built right into the system.
This is part of how Grim Workshop works.
Cut First, Then Make Sparks
Use the saw teeth for small cutting and wood prep jobs where a full size saw is not practical. The compact format is best for kindling, small branches, cordage, plastic, and similar light to medium work rather than large logs or heavy wood processing.
When you need sparks, move the silicone band enough to access the removable ferro rod. The high carbon steel card body serves as the striker, so the fire starting parts stay together on the same tool.
Like any ferro rod setup, practice matters. Learn the motion before you need it, keep dry tinder ready, and treat the saw teeth with the same care you would any cutting tool.

1095 Steel, Ferro Rod, and Basic Care
The Firefly Saw Card uses 0.060 inch 1095 high carbon blued spring steel. High carbon steel is a good fit here because the same body can serve as both the saw and the ferro rod striker.
The ferrocerium rod is a separate removable component that stores against the card beneath the glow green silicone band. The current card size ferro rod is also the verified replacement format for this product.
High carbon steel is not stainless steel. Dry the card after wet use and add a light coat of oil before longer storage if needed. The blued finish helps protect the steel, but basic care still matters.
The Firefly keeps the standard Survival Card credit card footprint, so it can ride in a compatible wallet slot, Altoids size tin, pouch, pocket organizer, or larger kit.
Where a Small Saw Makes Sense
The Firefly Saw Card makes the most sense when you want cutting and fire starting capability without dedicating much room to either one.
- Wallet or pocket organizer for everyday access
- Altoids size survival or fire kit
- Hiking or hunting pack as a compact backup saw
- Vehicle or emergency kit where flat storage helps
- Bushcraft kit for kindling prep and ferro rod practice
It does not need to win a lumberjack contest. It just needs to be there when a small saw is enough.

FAQ
Build Around Cutting and Fire
The Firefly covers two jobs, but a good compact kit still needs tinder, skill, and the right supporting tools for the situation. Build around the tasks you actually expect to handle instead of stuffing the kit just because there is an empty corner.
