Hot Shot Fire Card - Built for Real Life
Fire is one of the most important survival skills. But full fire kits are often bulky, messy, or left behind. The Hot Shot Fire Card solves that by giving you a complete fire starting system in the shape of a credit card. It rides in your wallet so you always have a way to create sparks and prepare tinder, even if you lose your main gear.
Hot Shot Fire Card Built for Real Life
Every Hot Shot Fire Card is made from hardened high carbon steel so it can endure repeated heavy use, and rugged outdoor environments. Stainless steel resists rust, allowing you to keep this card in a wallet, pack, or tin long term. The edges are shaped specifically for ferro rod striking, tinder scraping, small cutting tasks, and spark production.
Despite being only about 2 millimeters thick, the card offers strong surfaces for scraping bark, shaving magnesium, striking sparks, and prepping fire materials. The size makes it compatible with Altoids tins and other compact kits.
This is Flatpack Gear: real tools in incredibly small spaces.

VerifiedI bought two, one to keep, another to experiment with. The blade came semi-sharp. Cleaned up the edge on my Work Sharp belt sharpener. The blade also has nice 90 degree spines all around to use as a scraper. The striker has a very nice burr and really scrapes wood, the magnesium bar, and the ferro bar well. I saw a review criticizing the magnesium bar, saying it won't ignite. The ferro bar is very efficient and it took a lot of strikes to get the magnesium to ignite, but it did ignite and burned hot like it should. The magnesium bar doesn't adhere to the backing after first removal. All the other tools adhered to the backing after removal multiple times. The pry bar tip is sharp, you can use it as a mini chisel. The tweezers are precise and sturdy. The saw cuts well, either for actually cutting wood, or notching. Suggestions: Apply a better knife edge at the factory (that would probably raise the cost). Users should be cautious after removing the magnesium bar the first time, it will want to fall out with gravity. Otherwise it's basically perfect.

VerifiedFor a fire starter it works great .Knife would not eneven cut paper.

VerifiedBeen looking forward to experimenting with this for some time. Still experimenting with properly sharpening the knife. Everything else works great.

VerifiedGreat toolset for survival/firestarting. For its compact size it is surprisingly sturdy and well crafted. Know this will come in handy and that I can count on it when I need it most. Nicely Done!

Verifiedvery poor quality control, burred edges, barely blue, and flimsy foam and paper backing
Customer
Tools hard to remove, weak foam and paper backing, knife edge is jagged, barely blue. Not <1mm thick as description claims (reason I got it), it's at least 1, and the magnesium juts out. Regular credit card for comparison. If you're looking for a regular use, compact multitool, this isn't it.

VerifiedWell, At first the items were difficult to get off of the card and the back side of the items had very ruff edges, after I finally removed all of the items and put them back they wouldn't stay stuck to the card. I rinsed the card off with water and it seemed to help some what.

VerifiedJust got this and I’m very impressed. This tool gives a good price of mind knowing I have a way to make fire if all else fails or when I don’t have my fire kit with me. The con is that it is a small kit and may require some practice to become proficient in reliable use. But other than that this thing is awesome!! I’d like to buy another one asap.

VerifiedGreat to have when needed and takes up very little space. Be Prepared.

VerifiedI was so looking forward to receiving my Card Gen2: Survival Knife with Fire Starter (I'm in Australia so it took awhile) as it seemed such designed engineered and effective card kit. However shock & disappointment was received. The Survival Knife was both rolled and chipped along its cutting edge, there was also some rust along the blade edge and other spots on the knife prybar and saw.
Richard Read
VerifiedThe Hot Shot Fire Card wins in the Engineering and design categories hands down. I have tried dozens of fire starters and none of them can beat the Hot Shot on completeness, versatility, and utility. With compactness you usually sacrifice utility. The Hot Shot card ADDS utility. I’ll be putting these in all my kits
