At about 0.5 x 2 inches, it clips to a key ring or zipper pull with the included nickel plated steel snap hook. You can also keep it on Grim Workshop's reusable Tool Retention System inside a compact EDC or escape and evasion kit.
This handcuff shim tool is made for lawful practice with compatible ratcheting handcuffs in the single locked state. It is not a universal key and will not defeat a double lock. Learn the limits, practice with restraints you own or are authorized to use, and keep the skill with the gear.

How a Handcuff Shim Works, and Where It Stops
A handcuff shim is a thin tool shaped to move between the ratchet and locking pawl of a compatible cuff. On an appropriate single-locked ratcheting handcuff, the shim can separate those parts so the ratchet can move back out.
A shim is not the same as a handcuff key. It does not operate the keyway, and it does not defeat a double lock. Different cuff designs and tolerances also mean no shim should be treated as universal.
Practice only with training restraints you own or have clear permission to use. Work slowly, learn the fit of the cuff, and never use a restraint tool to interfere with law enforcement.
