    Survival Cards for Preparedness

    Grim Workshop preparedness gear

Carry More Capability Without Carrying a Bigger Pack

Preparedness works better when the gear is small enough to stay with you. Grim builds compact tools for wallets, necklaces, key rings, zipper pulls, pocket kits, vehicle kits, bug out bags, and get home bags.

    Three compact Grim formats

Choose the Form That Fits the Way You Carry

A wallet is useful. So is a necklace. So is a key ring. Grim uses several small tool formats so you can put the right capability in the place you are most likely to have it.

    Grim Workshop Micro Tools

    Paperclip sized format

    Micro Tools

Grim Micro Tools are very small task specific tools, commonly around the size of a large paperclip. Depending on the exact tool, they can ride on a key ring, zipper pull, necklace attachment, pouch, or compact kit.

    Preparedness works in layers

Small Tools Should Fill Gaps, Not Replace Everything Else

A compact backup earns its space when it solves a real problem. Keep full size gear for jobs that need full size gear, then use Survival Cards, Dog Tag Tools, and Micro Tools to cover the gaps.

    • Start with the emergencies and field problems most likely in your environment.
    • Put frequently needed backup capability somewhere you actually carry.
    • Use compact formats to expand a vehicle kit, get home bag, bug out bag, or pocket kit.
    • Practice before an emergency turns the first attempt into the important one.

    Common questions

    Before You Build the Kit

Are Survival Cards meant to replace full size survival gear?

No. Survival Cards work best as compact backups, specialist tools, and capability fillers. Keep full size gear where the job needs it.

Why would I choose a Dog Tag Tool instead of a Survival Card?

Carry method. Dog Tag Tools are intended for necklace, keychain, and small kit carry, while Survival Cards are built around a wallet sized footprint.

What makes a Micro Tool different?

Micro Tools are much smaller task specific tools, commonly around the size of a large paperclip. Exact materials, thickness, included hardware, and carry options depend on the specific tool.

Do all Grim tools use the same steel or material?

No. Materials vary by product. For example, the Hot Shot Micro Tool uses 1095 high carbon steel plus ferrocerium, while the Magnesium Micro Tool is magnesium. Check the exact product before choosing gear for a specific job.

Can compatible Survival Card tools be removed and put back?

Cards verified to use Grim's Tool Retention System are designed so compatible flat tools can be removed, used, cleaned and dried, then returned to their original position.

    Where should I start?

Start with the gap in the kit you already own. If your fire layer is strong but your fishing or repair layer is weak, shop the missing capability instead of buying another version of something you already carry.

    Build smarter preparedness

Pick the Capability. Pick the Carry Method. Practice With It.

Start with Survival Cards, Dog Tag Tools, or Micro Tools, then build outward from the problems your current kit still cannot solve well.

Some Grim products contain sharp, hunting, trapping, lock, or escape tools. Carry and use them responsibly, only where lawful and appropriate, and check local laws before travel or use.
